Synthroid is a synthetic thyroid hormone, thyroxine (T4). The thyroid gland hormones are responsible for regulating the metabolism. When such drugs are administered the metabolism is significantly elevated. This is done through the more efficient use of carbohydrates, proteins and fats, burning more calories throughout the day. These drugs are used to treat thyroid gland disorders and obesity.

Synthroid is similar to another drug from this class, Cytomel . The latter is four times stronger than Synthroid; T4 acts in the body by converting to T3. Usually T3 is the preferred choice of bodybuildres and atheletes. But T4 is better for beginners being safer and accommodating the body for the possible use of T3.

Thyroid drugs are among the most effective weight loss products in the world of bodybuilding. They burn a lot of fat deposits, allowing a more pronounced muscle definition. And because the body burns more calories than normal during the cycle, a drastic diet is not necessary.

Anabolic steroids are used in conjunction with such drugs to gain lean muscle mass due to the better utilization of nutrients. That is why some use thyroid hormones during bulking periods. But such drugs are also catabolic, burning fat but also muscles, so the use os anabolic steroids protect the muscle mass. So thyroid hormones are synergistic with steroids. 

Synthroid administration is tha same as with Cytomel. The dose is increased gradually, starting from 25 mcg mcg -100 mcg/day and it is increased slowly once every two days by 25-50 mcg. Should not exceed 200-400 mcg / day. If taken in large doses or over a long period of time it can permanently shut down the thyroid gland. A cycle should not exceed 6-8 weeks. Also for safety reasons the dose will be gradually reduced by the end of the cycle, also with 25-50 mcg once every 2-3 days. This will allow the body to adapt to fluctuating hormone levels in the blood, preventing a possible "shock".

Pay attention to the expiration date and the quality of the product used. T3 and T4 degrades very quickly, being unstable in pill form, so after the expiration date the drug is useless. The best products to be used are manufactured in the US or the European Union.

There are some side effects associated with Synthroid: hand tremors, sweating, nausea, diarrhea, insomnia, high pulse, anxiety and excessive weight loss. If the side effects are too pronounced the cycle should be discontinued immediately. But not abruptly. Even in this cases should be discontinued gradually to avoid doing more harm than good. It is recommended to check the thyroid gland with a doctor before using this medication.
