Testosterone propionate has the shortest ester in the esterified testosterone family, and the fastest action. The levels of active steroid levels peak 24-36 hours after administration , but immediately starts to decrease after that period. It has a half-life of 2-3 days. This can be a good thing for those who are sensitive to the side effects of longer testosterone esters (like enanthat and cypionate ), propionate resulting in a far lower water retention and an increase in energy, muscle pumps, appetite and strength after only 2-3 days of administration.
The down side of testosterone propionate is that because of its fast acting nature it requires frequent injections (usually every two days). On top of that the propionate ester irritate the injection site due to its short molecule so it can be painful. Those sensitive to injections find propionate very uncomfortable. Pain and swelling of the area can appear and even a mild fever. This can last for a few days. It is therefore not a good choice for beginners or for those who simply do not like intramuscular injections.
